OLYMPIC EDITION: BEST SPORTING EVENT EVER?

3 August 2016

The Rio Olympic Games commences in 2 days so it was only fitting to share my thoughts in a creative fashion!
Enjoy!

Best Sporting Event Ever?

Let me walk you through this exceptional ‘Art gallery’, showcasing only once every four years.

Except this isn’t a collection of motionless pictures, hung on the walls of a series of rooms.

At weigh in, Pablo Picasso advertises ‘The Weeping Woman’, a taster of his campaign.

As we cycle through a collection of Vincent van Gogh, a catalogue of excellence.

Braving the uneven bars, ‘Marilyn Monroe Diptych’ captures glimpses of Andy Warhol, with every swing.

Whilst down at the home straight, Mona Lisa triumphs, the perfect portrait, the ultimate slam dunk.

Dismount.

Personal Best.

This isn’t a collection of motionless pictures, hung on the walls of a series of rooms.

This is the masterpiece of athletes exhibiting their work of art, each with contrasting composition and craft.

Displaying the capabilities of the human body, an aesthetically pleasing sight.

A remarkable form of Public Art, with the inclusion of over 20 sports, attracting over 200 nations.

A celebration of sport, a celebration of humanity.

With each athlete striving to decorate their work with a palette of one of three colours.

Gold, silver, bronze.

A new page in their sketchbook, an illustration of their journey.

Creating a portfolio of inerasable memories.

This is the Olympic Games.

Long overdue, but I'll be posting at least once a week, every week of this month!
